DRAFTING & DESIGN TECHNOLOGY – SYLLABUS 2008-09
INSTRUCTOR: KEN GORDON, MED.
Students in the Drafting & Design Program are preparing to study to become Architects, Engineers, or Mechanical Designers, Interior Designers or Fashion Designers. Students learn as Drafting technicians and CAD operators to plan for every manufacturing and construction area. Students create drawings which provide visual guidelines, show the technical details of the products and structures, and specify dimensions, materials, and procedures. They use the universal graphic language of drafting to transform ideas into useful things. West Florida High School’s drafting students begin with basic board drafting skills and then transition to the most sophisticated computer-aided-drafting techniques in AutoCAD using state-of-the-art equipment.
How to Succeed in Drafting & Design
To succeed in Drafting & Design, a person should enjoy a challenge, have an eye for detail, like to use computers, like to work in teams and create new products. Students should have good organizational skills and be good problem solvers. Students should be able to produce detailed work accurately and neatly in a timely manner. Quality Action Team techniques and Skills-USA Professional Development Program are incorporated into all course work.
